Action Research in Action

Action research is identifying an issue that needs to be addressed and deciding to take action to bring about change. Action research personifies The process is going to be time consuming, however, as an educator we should be dedicated to doing whatever is necessary to ensure student success. Once the issue(s) have been identified, stakeholders of the campus need to formulate action strategies for improving the situation. There should be a culmination of resources being used to determine the direction the campus will take to implement these strategies from research of educational practice, campus, student or teacher data, and collaborative discussions. I plan to use action research to help identify the gaps between my teaching style and my student's learning style. Although my students are experiencing success, I would like to see a greater overall improvement score. I know that the demands that are placed on teachers to indirectly "teach the test", has caused me to rush the curriculum and prohibit me from taking my time to ensure student mastery, however, other teachers in other schools are filling the void, therefore, I know there is more for me to do so that my students are reaching their full academic potential. Action research will allow to create a plan of action as well as incorporate measures of success along the way so that I can correct my instructional delivery instead of relying on a final exam to justify my effectiveness.
